Shawn F. VanSlyke
Supervisory Special Agent,
Behavioral Analysis Unit, Quantico,
Virginia
Supervisory Special Agent (SSA)
Shawn F. VanSlyke has been assigned
to the Behavioral Analysis Unit,
National Center for the Analysis of
Violent Crime (NCAVC), Quantico,
Virginia since January of 2004. SSA
VanSlyke provides federal, state,
local, and foreign law enforcement
agencies with behavioral analysis
services, specializing in matters
involving threat assessment and
counterterrorism. SSA VanSlyke is
the NCAVC's Program Manager for the
Domestic Terrorism, Workplace
Violence and School Violence
programs, and regularly lectures and
instructs a wide range of audiences
on issues regarding these topics.
SSA VanSlyke also developed the
School Shooter training presentation
which has been distributed to FBI
Field Offices to facilitate national
collaborative efforts between law
enforcement and educational
institutions.
Prior to joining the NCAVC, SSA
VanSlyke was assigned to the FBI's
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PA) Field
Division, serving as a Special Agent
at the Erie, PA Resident Agency (ERRA)
for seven years. While in the ERRA,
SSA VanSlyke was the Primary NCAVC
Field Coordinator, serving as a
liaison between the Pittsburgh
Division and state and local law
enforcement agencies. SSA VanSlyke
also investigated a wide variety of
federal violations, to include
violent crime, public corruption,
and terrorism matters.
SSA VanSlyke holds a Bachelor of
Science Degree from Fredonia State
University, Fredonia, New York (NY),
and a Juris Doctor Degree from
Cleveland Marshall Law School,
Cleveland, OH, and has been a member
of the Pennsylvania Bar Association
since 1999. Prior to joining the
FBI, SSA VanSlyke was also employed
as an insurance fraud investigator
in Buffalo, NY for approximately six
years.
