Margaret Lutherer, Ph.D.
Executive Director of Communications and Marketing, Texas Tech University

Margaret Lutherer has been at Texas Tech University for the past 21 years. For 11 years she served as director of the Office of News and Publications. She was then named special assistant in the Office of the President.

She also served as interim director of the Texas Tech University Press from 1998 until 2000. In August 2005 she became executive director of communications and marketing for the university.

Before coming to Texas Tech, she served as director of publications in the Economics and Mortgage Finance Division of the National Association of Home Builders. Prior to that she was a stockbroker and financial planner at E.F. Hutton in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Lutherer earned a bachelor's degree in English from Texas Tech. She holds a master's degree and a doctorate, both in English literature, from Penn State University.

She is the author of Targeted: The Anatomy of an Animal Rights Attack, published by the University of Oklahoma Press. She has won numerous CASE district awards for marketing publications and two CASE national gold medals for public relations strategies.
