Speaker Profiles
Julie Young
Coordinator of Trauma and Prevention
Services
Ms.
Young came to the Oklahoma
Department of Mental Health and
Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS)
in 2002 and currently serves as the
Coordinator for Trauma and
Prevention Services. Ms. Young
provides technical
assistance/training to providers and
integrates trauma services
throughout the ODMHSAS service
system.
Before serving as coordinator, Ms.
Young was the Deputy Commissioner
for Domestic Violence and Sexual
Assault Services for ODMHSAS.
Prior to coming to Oklahoma, Ms.
Young implemented and served as the
Director for the Training Institute
for Alcohol, Drugs & Highway Safety
Educators, which is a resource
center for the Georgia Governor's
Office of Highway Safety that serves
45 counties in the southwest region
of Georgia.
Ms. Young have over ten years of
experience working in prevention and
substance abuse/mental health
treatment arena focusing on early
intervention efforts. The prevention
efforts in the areas of mental
health, substance abuse, and
violence focused on community
development and coalition building,
program development, and monitoring.
Ms. Young received her Bachelor's
degree in Psychology from University
of California at Los Angeles and her
Master's degree in Clinical
Psychology with an emphasis in
Marriage and Family Therapy from
Pepperdine University.
